Our Chorizo Queso Dip with Baked Tortilla Chips is perfect for game day, movie night or any time you're ready to get your snack on. Baked Dempster's® Original 7'' Tortillas wedges are a tasty alternative to store-bought chips while jalapenos and chorizo bring a bit of heat. This crowd-pleasing chips-and-dip starter can be made in under 30 minutes for no-fuss party planning. Serves six.

Ingredients

  • 4 Dempster's® Original 7" tortillas, each cut into 6 wedges
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
  • ¼ tsp (1 mL) salt
  • 10 oz (300 g) pasteurized prepared cheese product, cubed (such as Velveeta)
  • ½ cup (125 mL) 2% milk
  • ½ cup (125 mL) chopped cured chorizo sausage

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Toss tortilla wedges with 1 tbsp (15 mL) of the oil and salt; arrange in single layer on prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 7 to 8 minutes or until crisp and lightly golden.
  5. Let cool completely.
  6. Meanwhile, in microwaveable bowl, melt cheese with milk on High, stirring every minute, for 4 or 5 minutes or until completely melted.
  7. Stir in chopped sausage.
  8. Serve dip with baked tortilla chips.

Tips:
Once dip is melted, stir in 2 tbsp (30 mL) chopped pickled jalapeno peppers if desired.
