Classic Italian Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1 package of Villaggio® Toscana Extra Soft Sausage Buns
  • 2 tbsp (30g) Butter
  • 3 tbsp (45g) Flour
  • 1 cup (250g) Milk
  • 8 oz (250g) Provolone Cheese, shredded
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup (125g) Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) Mustard
  • 1/2 head of Iceberg Lettuce, shredded
  • 3 Tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 Onion, shredded
  • 24 slices Genoa Salami
  • 12 slices Mortadella
  • 24 slices Pepperoni
  • 12 slices Honey Ham
  • 24 oz (360g) Provolone
  • 1 cup (250g) Hot Olive Muffuletta Spread
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) Italian Dressing

Directions

  1. In a Saucepan, heat up Butter, over medium-high heat and whisk in Flour, then, cook for approximately 2 minutes until lightly browned
  2. Slowly pour and whisk in Milk, bringing to a boil and add in cheese
  3. Continue cooking and whisking, until cheese is melted, then, season with Salt & Pepper to taste
  4. Set aside to cool to room temperature
  5. Evenly divide and spread Mayonnaise and Mustard over each bun
  6. Layer on Shredded Lettuce, Tomato slices and Onions
  7. Continue build with Salami, Mortadella, Pepperoni and Ham then, add Provolone Cheese Sauce and top with Hot Olive Muffaletta
  8. Drizzle sandwiches with Italian Dressing and serve
