French Steak Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of Villaggio Artesano® Classic White Baguettes
  • 12 oz (350g) Striploin Steak
  • 1 Red Onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp (30g) unsalted Butter
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Olive Oil
  • Sea Salt
  • 1 tbsp (15g) granulated Sugar
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup (125g) Fig Jam
  • 1 cup (250g) Arugula

Directions

  1. Prepare baguettes according to package directions
  2. Pan-fry the steak to the desired doneness
  3. Remove steak to rest and add in butter, to melt, over medium heat
  4. Add in olive oil then onions and sauté for 10 minutes
  5. Add in salt, sugar, and balsamic then continue cooking for about 10 minutes, until reduced
  6. Slice baguettes in half lengthwise
  7. Spread the bottom half of the baguette with fig jam and layer with steak slices, onions, slices of brie, and top with arugula
  8. Cap the sandwich with the top half of the baguette and serve
