Ingredients
- 1 loaf of Villaggio® Classico Italian Style Thick Slice White Bread
- 1 whole Chicken
- 3 tbsp (45g) Paprika
- 1 tbsp (15g) Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp (15g) Onion Powder
- 1 tsp (5g) Dry Thyme
- 1/2 tsp (2.5g) Celery Salt
- 1 tsp (5g) Cayenne Pepper
- 1/4 cup (60ml) Brown Sugar
- 1 Medium Onion, finely chopped
- 2 Sticks of Celery, finely chopped
- 2 Carrots, peeled and finely chopped
- 3 tbsp (45g) Sage, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp (30g) Parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp (15g) Rosemary, finely chopped
- 4 tbsp (60g) Butter
- 4 cups (1ltr) Chicken Broth
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp (30g) Cornstarch
Directions
- 1 loaf of bread cut or torn into large cubes
- In a small bowl, mix together Paprika, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Thyme, Celery Salt, Cayenne Pepper and Brown Sugar, until thoroughly blended
- Rub the Chicken inside and out with the mixture and set aside
- Over medium-high heat, melt the butter and sauté the Onions, Celery, and Carrots for 8 -10 minutes until soft but not browned.
- Stir in Sage, Parsley, Rosemary, Chicken Broth and Cornstarch and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, to incorporate flavours
- Pour over bread cubes, and gently fold/mix together then transfer into slow cooker
- Immerse the chicken into the bread mixture
- Cook for 5 to 6 hours on high
- Option to serve with Cranberry Sauce
