Slow Cooker Chicken with Stuffing

  • 1 loaf of Villaggio® Classico Italian Style Thick Slice White Bread
  • 1 whole Chicken
  • 3 tbsp (45g) Paprika
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp (5g) Dry Thyme
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5g) Celery Salt
  • 1 tsp (5g) Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Brown Sugar
  • 1 Medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Sticks of Celery, finely chopped
  • 2 Carrots, peeled and finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp (45g) Sage, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp (30g) Parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Rosemary, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp (60g) Butter
  • 4 cups (1ltr) Chicken Broth
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp (30g) Cornstarch


  1. 1 loaf of bread cut or torn into large cubes
  2. In a small bowl, mix together Paprika, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Thyme, Celery Salt, Cayenne Pepper and Brown Sugar, until thoroughly blended
  3. Rub the Chicken inside and out with the mixture and set aside
  4. Over medium-high heat, melt the butter and sauté the Onions, Celery, and Carrots for 8 -10 minutes until soft but not browned.
  5. Stir in Sage, Parsley, Rosemary, Chicken Broth and Cornstarch and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, to incorporate flavours
  6. Pour over bread cubes, and gently fold/mix together then transfer into slow cooker
  7. Immerse the chicken into the bread mixture
  8. Cook for 5 to 6 hours on high
  9. Option to serve with Cranberry Sauce
