Pesto Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of Villaggio® Classico Italian Style Thick Slice White Bread
  • 1 tbsp (30m) extra virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp(30g) Butter
  • 1/2 cup (125g) Pesto
  • 1 slice of fresh Mozzarella
  • 2 thick slices of Provolone
  • 1/2 cup (125g) sundried Tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup (125g) Fresh Basil
  • 4 tbsp (120g) Whole Almonds, toasted

Directions

  1. Preheat Oven to 350°F (180°C)
  2. Lay out 4 slices of bread
  3. Spread each slice evenly with the pesto
  4. Top two slices with the Mozzarella, Provolone, Sundried Tomatoes, and Basil
  5. Sprinkle the toasted whole Almonds onto the Pesto and, with the back of a spoon or fingertips, then press the Almonds into the bread
  6. Heat up an oven-proof pan, over medium high heat and melt the Butter in the Olive Oil
  7. Top each with remaining slice of bread and toast in pan until golden brown and toasty, do a quick flip of the sandwich and place in 350°F (180°C) oven for 15 minutes until the sandwich is toasty and the cheese is melty
