  • 1 package of Villaggio® Toscana Extra Soft Sausage Buns
  • 2 lb (1kg) Chuck Roast
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 2 tbsp (30g) Olive Oil
  • 1/2 cup (125g) Giardiniera, chopped
  • 1 cup (250g) Pepperoncini, chopped with juice
  • 3 tbsp (45g) Sugar
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Onion Powder
  • 2 sprigs Fresh Thyme
  • 2 sprigs Fresh Oregano
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • 12 slices Provolone Cheese
  • 1 sup (250g) oil-packed Giardiniera, for topping

  1. Generously season the entire chuck roast with salt & pepper
  2. Heat the olive oil, in a large pan over medium-high heat, then brown the chuck roast on all sides until the meat is sealed, about 5 to 7 minutes per side
  3. Transfer to slow cooker and top with giardiniera, pepperoncini with juices, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, and salt & pepper and cook on high for 6-8 hours until meat is tender and juicy, turning the meat every couple of hours
  4. Remove the roast from the liquid, and allow it to sit and cool for a bit
  5. Slice and build sandwiches by layering meat, with cheese and topping with giardiniera
